Accessing Ajera Software Remotely
Ajera is designed to be a LAN based program, although adding remote access is simple,
affordable and easy to maintain. There are two options available based upon
your needs.
Remote Desktop Connection
The first option is to utilize Remote Desktop Connection – an option
in Windows XP Professional® that allows one remote user at a time to connect
to their computer in the office and use Ajera. Remote Desktop Connection is also
available as a download for Macintosh OS X® users. This is a simple, free
and effective way for employees to enter time, or review reports outside of the
office.
Terminal Services
If your needs are more robust, such as connecting multiple people from satellite
offices, job sites or other locations, we recommend
Microsoft Windows Terminal Server®. Terminal Services allows users
to access Ajera through a web browser or through remote desktop protocol in a secure,
high performance environment.
What is Terminal Services and how does it allow access to Ajera over an internet
connection? Microsoft Windows Terminal Server allows a computer to accept
multiple simultaneous connections from other computers to access applications installed
at the server. It is not uncommon for a single Terminal Server to be set up to host
hundreds of users simultaneously. A user can connect to a Terminal Server from a
remote location and run applications as though they were sitting at their office
desk.
The important concept here is that the Terminal Server can handle many people logging
into it at once. This allows each user to run Ajera with their own specific
security level and preferences.
With minimal cost and effort, your firm can set up Terminal Services to allow web-based
remote access to Ajera. Ajera's integrated role-based security and standard security
maintenance on the Terminal Server will keep your sensitive data safe and in a central
location making administration and back-up easy.
Web-based remote access for Ajera allows important data to be collected and distributed
throughout the firm including satellite offices, job sites and remote employees.
