Team Axium Does It Again
26th Annual 2009 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
It was a clear, crisp almost-fall Sunday morning. Downtown Portland was awash with excitement as the 26th Annual 2009 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure was happening and Team Axium was there in support of the cause. As many of you may know, Susan G. Komen is the leader in the fight for finding a cure for breast cancer worldwide. Portland hosts the third largest race in the United States, raising awareness and funds to support the fight.
Team Axium sported a team of 24 members, some of whom were sleeping in and joining us in spirit. We were there with more than 40,000 of our closest friends to walk, stroll, or run for the cure. Although the 5K walk started at 9:00 a.m., the excitement for the day started much earlier. From 6:30 a.m. on, the waterfront was a mass of pink everywhere. Balloons, t-shirts, wigs, anything you can imagine, were in pink. We strategically planned to meet at the starting line, everyone looking for our signature silver and pink star balloons. At the sound of the horn, we were off to make a difference. The race took us up and down the streets of downtown, seeing many people supporting the same cause. In all, Team Axium raised $2,492 from friends and family worldwide. We wish to thank each person who participated as a team member, contributor, or supporter. We all make a difference.
