Enjoy the Security of Printing Reports through Information Systems

In the last issue of Focal Point we talked about how to set up Protrax security so that Project Managers could only see their own information when they ran reports. Now we will see how to limit access to specific groups or individuals.

Securing Reports
Use report security to ensure that only authorized personnel can access or print particular reports. You can assign passwords or security ID’s to report designs. In order to set up security for a report design, you must have security initialized and the operators and groups already set up. Open the report design to set security.

RD: Tools, Security, Design Security

Full Access allows an operator to open, change and view a design. Printing Access allows an operator to print a design only.

Note:
If the Allow modification of conditions at print time check box is marked, the operator that is assigned print access security can also change the report conditions for the design for that print session only.

When you select the User Security ID button, you can select from the available security groups or individuals so you can tailor the report security to meet your individual needs.

If you put a password on the report design, only those with the correct password can edit the report. So, now not only have you secured the report to a specific group of users, you have secured it from “mysteriously morphing” overnight.

How much more secure can you be? You will sleep better at night knowing Protrax Report Security is on the job.
